Every now and then, you realize that your beloved 1995 home has the potential to become even more perfect for your family. That’s how the collaboration with Vujovich Design Build begins. With key updates to the exterior, kitchen and pantry, laundry, and added mudroom plus a new upper-level junior suite, this Stillwater remodel is bringing an energetic boost to this home’s modern livability.

About the Remodelers Showcase: In 1948, Minneapolis and St. Paul became home to the original Parade of Homes. The event started with just a few new homes and has been transformed throughout the years into one of the largest home tours in the United States. In 1984, Housing First Minnesota added the Remodelers Showcase. These popular and free tour events highlight homes in the area. Housing First Minnesota is the leading voice for more than 900 builders and remodelers, representing developers, and industry suppliers with the mission of homeownership opportunities for all Minnesotans. 

Key features of the home: 

Modern Kitchen with Organic Touches: The remodeled kitchen features two-toned cabinets with a custom hood and durable backsplash from mosaique surface. The walnut island now seats five and is unique in its shape for informal dining where the family can talk and share stories. 

Family and Function: Prior to remodeling, the existing mudroom just did not work for this family. There were no locker cubbies for personal belongings. With a family that is coming and going from sports and other after-school activities, our team needed to reconfigure the laundry room, powder, and mudroom to give them what they were lacking – storage. The new mudroom houses five lockers that provide ample storage for gear and accessories. 

Revamping existing rooms: The connection between the kitchen and the living room was important to keep. The new island’s seamless flow to the living room encourages the family to gather in multiple rooms, creating an environment where everyone can engage all at once. 

On the second level, it was the daughter's wish to have a bathroom of her own. An updated junior suite with a bathroom addition was the perfect fix. The new addition was created by closing off the two-story entryway. The new door and staircase are now the focal point of the entryway.
